WSP’s first ever Club on the Move programme finished this week in Abbeyside GAA Club. Club on the Move is a six week physical activity programme aimed at increasing physical activity levels in a fun and enjoyablemanner. The programme aims to ensure parents, coaches and committee members are more involved with their local club and utilises the clubs premises for activity.
Congratulations to the 30 participants who took part and we were delighted with the results. Physically, 31% of participants lost weigh with an average loss of 0.3kg per participant, but more importantly 76% of participants saw their waist circumference reduce by an average of 1.8cm and 88% of participants increased their aerobic capacity by being able to travel an average of 221 metres further as part of the 8 minute test.
We were particularly delighted that participants set up an additional third evening a week and due to this success, the club are now embarking on a couch to 5km beginning on 12th September. Feedback was excellent but the programme was summed up by one of the participants saying ‘The seasons were great craic. You encouraged us all to give it our best. Everyone who attended had exhausted but happy looks on their faces at the end of each sessions – all having achieved’
