U19 Hurling County Final

Our U19 hurlers were the final club team in action in 2019 when they faced off against Ballygunner at Carrickbeg in the County Final on the 22nd of December. The weather on the day was certainly as good as could be expected for the time of year and with the pitch in decent condition both teams produced some fine passages of play in an open game. Unfortunately, however there was to be no early Christmas cheer as we ran into a fine Ballygunner outfit who were that bit more crisper in their striking and clinical in their score taking. Great credit is due to the lads who tried to the last puck but in the end, we were on the wrong side of a 2-22 to 1-11 score line. Disappointed but certainly not disheartened, there will be other days for this fine group of players. Given the truncated nature of the competition the team and mentors can be very pleased with what was achieved. Hopefully in 2020 there will be a more structured championship which will afford the lads more playing opportunities.

Wedding Bells

Congratulations to club stalwart John Hurney who married Lorraine Walker in Ballinroad Church on Monday last. They were joined on the day by many club members who helped the happy couple celebrate in style. On behalf of all on the club we’d like to wish John and Lorraine every happiness in their future life together.
