Saturday next, 21st November marks 100 years since Bloody Sunday where fourteen civilians were killed by British forces in Croke Park during a Senior Football challenge match between Tipperary and Dublin. To commemorate this momentous event in GAA history, Cumann Lúthcleas Gael is asking all members to light a candle in their homes at dusk on Saturday to remember the lives lost on that tragic day. Also at 6:05pm that evening, the GAA will host a centenary remembrance ceremony at Croke Park prior to the Leinster Senior Football Championship Final. This commemoration will be broadcast live on RTÉ and will involve wreath laying at the site where Michael Hogan, the Tipperary corner back, was shot and the lighting of fourteen torches on Hill 16 to remember the victims of the attack.
