County Leagues

The Senior footballers scored a good victory over Rathgormack last Friday evening, coming away from the Comeragh venue with a 2 point win 0-11 to 1-06.

Double U13 County Football Champions

Last week our mighty bunch of U13 footballers accomplished a truly impressive feat of winning two county titles in the same age group. On Monday (23rd May) in Fraher Field the division 1 team beat a strong Stradbally side on a scoreline of 5-07 to 2-11 while 24 hours later the division 3 team beat Gaultier by 3-12 to 1-7. Both teams really deserved their victories and all the smiles and laughter after the full-time whistle was a result of their dedication throughout the season. It was great to see the time-honoured tradition of parading in cars around the parish to let everyone know about their success. The satisfaction of winning with your teammates is the true reward and the boys enjoyed a lovely lunch in the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon. It was great to bring the two cups to the pier in Ballinacourty. Big congratulations boys and well done!

Winning county titles in two divisions at the same age grade is a testament to the time and effort that the coaching team have put in to help the boys reach their potential. Well done to all and keep going!!

U12 County Football Finals

On Monday (30th May) both of our U12 teams travelled to Carriganore to contest county finals at their own age group. The division 1 team play Gaultier, and the division 3 team play St. Pats. Keep an eye on social media for updates.

Mini All-Ireland Finals

The Mini All Ireland Hurling tournament returned in blazing sunshine this morning (28/05/2022). Like any All Ireland final, the proceedings started with a parade of the teams. The fantastic "Popup Pipers" helped to add a real sense of occasion for the boys as they marched to the playing pitches. Almost 130 boys aged between 7 and 10 hurled their hearts out in front of an impressively large crowd, made up of brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers and all kinds of friends and relations!

Each team had two matches of the round robin to play before the finals. Each of the 12 teams in action contested a final and despite the heat, every one of the boys worked their socks off. They all deserved the goody bags, and it was great to see the players and the parents enjoying refreshments in the sun and discussing the top quality hurling that they had witnessed.

Thanks to two of our senior panel, Michael O'Halloran and John Elsted, who were on hand to present trophies which is great as both of them are doing great work coaching some of our underage teams and it's important for our young players of the future to have contact with, and learn from senior players.

Based on buzz around the field and all the smiles and laughter, it's fair to say that the day was a great success.

A day like this would not have been possible without the work behind the scenes from the coaches, committee members, refreshments crew and the parents that supplied sandwiches and assisted with organizing parking etc., thanks to all for your efforts and the day was beautifully captured by photographer Eddie Dee.

It's days like this that make memories for the boys and build a strong bond with our club.

U15 Hurling

Our U15 panel has switched its attention to hurling and is in preparation for their upcoming championship. Again we’ll be lining out two teams so that as many boys as possible get the opportunity to play championship hurling. Best wished to Darragh Mansfield who suffered an unfortunate injury recently. We hope that Darragh makes a full recovery and returns to action as soon as possible.

Primary Schools Skills

Congratulations to Rian Cliffe and Coleman Radley who were part of the Scoil Gharbháin team that won the recent primary school county skills competition for football. In the hurling skills competition Darrach McGrath and Fionnán Murray were on the team that came in second place, also for Scoil Gharbháin.
