Championship 2022
The Senior Footballers overcame Kilrossanty in their County Quarter Final last Sunday. Absolutely horrendous weather conditions ensured it was going to be a tight close affair and so it proved. After playing with the aid of the elements in the 1st half we went in at half time with a 5 point lead. The 2nd half was a real battle as our opponents threw everything at us, but the lads defended resolutely and fought tenaciously for every ball and in the end we ran out 4 point winners.
Next up is a semi final date with The Nire next Sunday in Fraher Field at 2.00pm.
Meanwhile the Minors travelled to Walsh Park to take on Gaultier in the Division 1 County Final. This was a great game of football and the lads but in a tremendous performance of which they can be very proud. It was a tight affair all through and after 60 minutes it was all square. The extra time period took a similar pattern, and it was close all the way, with unfortunately Gaultier finishing the stronger which got them over the line.
Having won the plate final of the Division 1 hurling already, this was a very good year for this group of players and each and every one can be proud. Thanks to the players and mentors for their efforts.

U14 Hurling – Munster Super 10’s
Well done to our Under 14 hurlers who took part in the Munster GAA Super 10s blitz on Saturday. The lads defeated St Marys, Ballygunner and Ballyduff to qualify for the Munster Finals Day in Mallow on November 5th.
Academy Update
Even though it’s mid October, our academy boys are still going hard at it! On Friday evening the U10’s travelled to Killeagh where they gave a great account of themselves.
The U9’s travelled to Mallow to play in the under 9 Munster football blitz. They lads played Fr. O’Neills (Cork), The Banner (Clare) & Clondrohid (Cork) and had great fun while playing quality football.
The youngest of our hurlers and footballers finished their season on Saturday with their normal fun filled session, followed by goodie bags (thanks to Eurospar, Abbeyside) and medals to reward their effort through the year. Well done to all the coaches for their enthusiasm and dedication through the year and no doubt they’re looking forward to the 2023 season already.
Mini All Ireland Football Tournament
On Saturday morning at the field we have over 60 boys, aged 7 and 8, taking part in the football version of our Mini All Ireland tournament. They lined out for Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Meath and Waterford and we witnessed some great contests and team work with no shortage of skills on display. The U7 and U8 groups played the first four fixtures of the round robin section with the U9 and U10 boys scheduled to play their round robin matches on Tuesday (17th Oct). The finals will take place on Sunday morning (23rd Oct) when we will have over 120 boys contesting for silverware and having fun in what promises to be a very enjoyable morning.
We would like to thank David Walsh Office, School & Computer Supplies for their very generous sponsorship of the Mini All Ireland tournament. We ask all of our members and friends to support the business whenever they can.
